Rock 'N Red
Rock 'N Red broke her maiden tag in the 20:50 at Wolverhampton on Saturday night. The daughter of Fastnet Rock had been unlucky recently at Chelmsford when trapped behind weakening horses and this victory was deserved compensation. She was stepping up to twelve furlongs for the first time but the way she stayed on over ten furlongs at Chelmsford suggested that the extra distance would prove no problem to her.
Silvestre De Sousa soon had her sat in behind the leaders and she raced with her usual enthusiasm in the early stages of the race. The unraced Introductory got first run on our filly on the home bend and as the pair locked horns down the straight it momentarily looked like the Johnston horse might keep finding in front. Our filly is nothing if not game however and she pinned her ears back and wore down the leader to win by half a length.
We must congratulate Mr Arculli who bred Rock 'N Red, it was fantastic to win a maiden with her. The horses have been running well and credit must go to all the team who have been working hard, starting early in the morning to ensure the good momentum we have built continues.
