Red Verdon looking pleased with himself as he eats his hay this morning
Red Verdon returned from a short break to contest a four runner 12f Conditions event at Lingfield Park yesterday. He broke well from the stalls and was soon getting a lead from the free going Celestial Path. He settled beautifully and continued to track the leader with Great Hall just behind him and the free going Calling Out sat at the rear of the field. Celestial Path kicked before the two pole but Red Verdon had him in his sights and eased past over a furlong out before quickening clear and winning by a hard held three lengths with Great Hall taking the second spot.
Everything went perfectly for Red Verdon and this run will bring him on as he is prepared for tougher assignments ahead. Although nothing is set in stone his most likely target is the Marathon on All-Weather Finals day where he should hold strong claims. He has not raced beyond a mile and a half as of yet but if he relaxes as well as he did yesterday then the Marathon trip should not hold any fears for him. Our colt also holds entries in Dubai and Sydney but although nothing has been ruled out, he seems unlikely to take up those engagements. If everything goes to plan this season and Red Verdon’s rating moves back above 110 then we would love to take him to Melbourne for the Melbourne Cup.
We send our congratulations to Mr Arculli who is the owner of Red Verdon and we hope you have a lot of fun with him this year. It would be fantastic if he can take you to Melbourne later on in 2018. Well done to everyone at La Grange, it is a difficult time of year with a shortage of staff in the industry but the horses are running well and we hope your hard work continues to get rewarded.
