RED CADEAUX heads a three-horse raid from La Grange Stables on the first day of the big Chester meeting on Wednesday, our 'Cup' representative being accompanied on the trip to the Roodee by MUSHARAKAAT (Cheshire Oaks) and TANFEETH, who goes for the 10-furlong maiden.
Ed said:"Ideally, we could have done with some rain for Red Cadeaux, but they have watered and we should get the best of the ground on the first day. He is 9lb higher than last year, when he finished eighth after having an horrific run through, so at the weights we cannot beat either Mamlook or Tastahil, who were first and second respectively."
"However, our fellow ran a blinder over a trip (11f) too short for him in the Rosebery at Kempton, and, while he clearly did not stay in the Cesarewitch last year, the one place that he could get the distance is around here. He has a good draw in stall five, so, hopefully, Ryan (Moore) will enjoy a better run than Kieren (Fallon) did 12 months ago."
Assessing the chances of our other pair, Ed added:"Musharakaat will enjoy the ground, and she is back among her own sex, having taken on the colts in the Feilden Stakes at our Craven meeting. She is by Iffraaj, but the dam stayed a mile and a half, so, hopefully, the longer distance will be within her stamina range. Tanfeeth finished fourth in what looked a decent maiden at Newbury. He has a nice draw, too, so we have to be hopeful."
