RED CADEAUX, only seventh behind runaway winner Dansili Dancer in last year's Rosebery Handicap at Kempton, has the perfect draw in his attempt to kick-start his season on a better note at the Sunbury course on Saturday.
Ed said:"Plan A for Red Cadeaux was the Further Flight Stakes at Nottingham next Wednesday, but we have re-routed to the Polytrack as the ground is already good to firm up there and we look unlikely to get our right underfoot conditions."
"œThe 11 furlong trip is arguably short of his best, but he was only a couple of lengths off the runner-up last year, and he has definitely strengthened up through the winter."
"œWe know that he goes on the surface "" he has also won at Lingfield "" and, while this time last week stall number one would have been the coffin box draw, the new rule means that we start next to the inside rail, which has to be a bonus."
"œRed Cadeaux ran a blinder in the Cesarewitch last autumn, especially considering his bad draw, but at the end of the day he did not have the stamina, and, while I would not rule out having another crack at the Chester Cup "" he was unlucky in the race last year "" I doubt whether we will be looking at any other races beyond two miles."
