Stable star Red Cadeaux returned safely to La Grange this afternoon following another successful winter abroad. His fourth appearance in the Melbourne Cup, in which he finished second for a third time, broke the record for an internationally-trained runner, while he ran a gallant race in the Hong Kong Vase – a contest he won in 2012 – having been unsuited by the steady fractions around Sha Tin.
As always, he looks in wonderful condition, and it is hard to believe he is now a nine-year-old.
Foreign adventures lay in wait again, with either a third appearance at the Dubai Carnival or a first run at The Championships in Sydney next on the agenda. Here is to another wonderful year with a truly wonderful horse.
