RED CADEAUX gained the biggest success of his career when winning the Group 3 At The Races Curragh Cup on the plains of Kildare on Saturday, thus giving the La Grange Team some compensation for being forced to withdraw their dual Oaks heroine Snow Fairy from the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes on the same card because of the testing ground.
The rain certainly came as a welcome boost for Red Cadeaux - two inches fell in the morning and, though the weather improved, inevitably the ground became very tacky and Ronald Arculli's versatile five-year-old swept to the front at the two-furlong pole under a confident ride from Tom McLaughlin and pulled steadily clear to win impressively by nine lengths.
Ed said: "Red Cadeaux could not have done it better. The cards did not fall his way at Pontefract last week, but everything dropped right for us this time and he has produced a career-best performance. He had already won a Listed race at Hamilton but this is his first Group triumph and we are all over the moon."
"Obviously, Red Cadeaux's programme will be determined by the ground but he is effective from a mile and a half to two miles, though this mile and six is arguably his optimum distance, so, while we look for something in between, we would definitely consider coming back for the Irish St Leger."
