RED CADEAUX, who produced another career-best performance to finish a length behind dead-heaters Duncan and Jukebox Jury on his first attempt at Group 1 company in the Irish St Leger at The Curragh on Saturday, could well be heading Down Under for the Melbourne Cup at Flemington on the first Tuesday in November.
Reflecting on a brave effort at the week-end, Ed said:"He ran well without ever quite looking like getting there, but it was his first appearance in the Premier League and I was thrilled wth him. The owner (Ronald Arculli) is keen to have a serious look at Melbourne, so we will peruse the weights when they are released tomorrow and decide whether we think it warrants going into quarantine."
BURWAAZ, who was just touched off in the Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster, has been entered for the Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury this week-end, but, like Ayr Gold Cup possible KANAF, who the boss felt did not quite get home over the 1300 metres on Town Moor last week, a decision on his participation will not be made until Thursday.
