WHAT better way to start the New Year than with a winner, and PALM PILOT, the first runner from La Grange Stables in 2011, provided us with a dream start when landing a 7f handicap at Wolverhampton on Monday.
Palm Pilot, who had been unluckily short-headed at Lingfield the previous time, made no mistake under a fine waiting ride from George Baker and was good value for her half-length success, suggesting that an extra furlong would not be a problem.
Ed said:"I know the family well and, ironically, Palm Pilot's dam, Off Message, won first time out at Wolverhampton, where she beat a subsequent Royal Ascot winner in Soapy Danger, while we also trained the second dam, Independence, for Cliveden. She was a very good racemare and finished on a high by winning both the Matron Stakes at The Curragh and the Sun Chariot here at Newmarket."
"Palm Pilot is Off Message's first foal, and, being by Oasis Dream, there is a good blend of speed and stamina in the pedigree. She is a good-looking, racy filly, and now that she has got her head in front hopefully she will go on from here."
