AEGAEUS, second foal of the prolific Group One winner Ouija Board, won the mile and a quarter maiden at Lingfield today in the colours of Lord Derby. In what was the second leg of a double for jockey Graham Lee, the son of Monsun was ridden handily before taking the lead well inside the final furlong and went on to score by three quarters of a length. The three year old gelding has taken quite some time to mature and has shown that he is improving with age, not unlike his half brother, November Handicap third Voodoo Prince.
Lee, who has ridden La Grange's last seven winners said, "I learned a lot last time. He settled well today and that was the key to him".
Aegaeus won a shade snugly today and heĀ is open to further improvement over this trip and may even get further.
