Fun Money
A dry morning so far here at HQ and the sun is just trying to break through, there looks to be plenty of rain during the rest of the week however which is not ideal given that the July meeting is nearly upon us. Everyone has been coping admirably with the recent wet weather and the horses were fresh and well this morning during their easy Monday morning exercise.
Red Verdon ran very well in The Irish Derby but it was frustrating that he did not get third place. On the bear form he has improved nearly eight lengths on his Derby run but I feel if he hadn’t got quite so far back he would have been third. He has come out of his race very well and arrived back here safely at La Grange, the aim is more than likely the St Leger now with the Great Voltigeur possibly a stepping stone to it beforehand. Sagaciously did not stay the mile and a half in The Fred Archer, it got very soft there and having looked like possibly picking up some Black Type, she faded in the closing stages.
Our only runner tonight is at 7:55 in the twelve furlong handicap at Windsor. Fun Money was too keen last time so we have put a hood back on her and hope this will help her settle better. She will appreciate the ground being by Authorized and we hope she can show more than she did at Lingfield last time.
Minding once more showed just how good she is when cutting down Bocca Baciata to win the Pretty Polly Stakes and she has now won Group 1s over eight, ten and twelve furlongs this year. Aiden is very keen to keep her in training at four and having won five Group 1s already she could well get to double figures by the time her career finishes. She is incredibly tough too as this was her fourth Group 1 assignment in two months.
