Boston Girl
Good afternoon from Newmarket. We head to Nottingham today with just the single runner.
The horse in question is Boston Girl, who lines up in the 5.50, a six-furlong fillies novice auction. Only three go to post as a result of the very testing conditions, and we don’t know whether our filly will handle them. There are grounds for thinking she might do on pedigree, and we need to get her out again soon after a difficult debut at Chelmsford nine days ago.
On that occasion she blew the start and then hung violently right in the home straight, and we thought it prudent to send her to a straight track next time out. We had seen no sign of waywardness at home, and hopefully it was just a case of stage fright. She is probably up against it despite the small field this afternoon, but I hope to see a more encouraging and professional display second time up.
All the best,
Ed
