The horses walk around after galloping

It has been a dry and breezy day here at HQ. It is not as blustery as it was at The Curragh yesterday where it blew a gale. Trip To Paris finished third in The Irish Leger but he ran a long way below his best and he was once more disappointing. It will be very difficult to go to Australia now and we will more than likely give him a break. It was a good ride from Frankie on the winner and Wicklow Brave was holding on well at the end. Dark Red never landed a blow in the concluding 10f handicap and ran a little flat.

We run Social Media in the 7:25 at Wolverhampton this evening and she steps up in trip for her handicap debut. She is a well bred daughter of New Approach who we had hoped to run on Saturday but the rain did not arrive in time for her. I would like to think she could be competitive in a race of this nature off of a mark of 55, especially now the likely favourite Resdev Way is a non runner.

It looked to be a very strong Irish Champion Stakes on paper and Almanzor was impressive when beating Found, who tends to come to herself at this time of year. It will be a shame if he does not head to the Arc but his trainer Jean-Claude Rouget has had an incredible season and ideally wants to keep him apart from his star filly La Cressonniere. The St Leger was extremely eventful and the strongest stayer won the final Classic of the season in Harbour Law. Congratulations to Laura Mongan, to win a classic when you only have a string of 20 horses is a fantastic achievement.
