The Guineas meeting is upon us and after a little rain over the weekend it looks like being a dry week, so the ground is likely to be similar to the Craven meeting. I saw Eminent out at exercise this morning and he looked very fresh and well. It was very sad to read that Ted Durcan broke his leg on Saturday and I wish him a speedy recovery.
We ran five horses on Saturday night and they ran respectably. Kafoo travelled well before failing to stay the ten furlong trip and we will drop him back to a mile when he next runs. Red Master was drawn badly but he showed a little promise in the 1m4f and I hope he will show us more next time. Amazing Red was a little ring rusty as I thought he might be and I would expect him to improve for the run. He will want good or good to soft ground on the turf and so we will have to hope we can find some ground for him, the winner looks useful. Colourful Career and Sir Gnet both shaped promisingly in the extended 1m Maiden. We will more than likely drop Colourful Career back to 7f or 1m dead and Sir Gnet could well step up to 1m2f.
I have two runners at Windsor this afternoon. Mushareefa broke slowly last time and never landed a blow, I hope she shows us more on her second start this afternoon but she needs to step up markedly on what we saw last time. Damocles sets the standard on his fourth at Newmarket and Cool Team ran well up at Newcastle on his debut. Lassana Angel was third on debut but was beaten a long way, her stable are in flying form however. Archimento would have a good chance on his best form in the 4:20 but he was very disappointing last time. I am hoping that the trip and ground will suit him today but we do need him to show some sparkle that was missing at Chelmsford. Cape Banjo has solid form and has five pound taken off his back and Getback In Paris drops in class having run respectably in the Rosebery. It is a competitive and open looking affair and it is hard to rule many of the field out.
