MANDY'S BOY won well at Yarmouth yesterday, giving La Grange a first winner for owner Dr. Marwan Koukash. Ridden by Tom McLaughlin, this gelding son of Kyllachy was held up in touch in the testing ground conditions and made smooth headway when required, going on to score readily by two and a quarter lengths. This juvenile had been beaten a long way on his debut at Newmarket over seven furlongs just over a week ago, but he appears to have learned from that experience and been suited by the step up to a mile. McLaughlin said: "The boss doesn´t overdo them at home before their first run so I thought he would come on. He liked the ground and could get further." This horse should continue to improve; he picked up well here and saw out his race nicely.
Elsewhere yesterday, after a busy day with ten runners, HIGH TROJA finished second, also at Yarmouth, only getting into gear in the closing stages so the winners enclosure beckons for him before too long. KHUBALA was the bridesmaid at Ascot after a record of four wins so far this year. He finished well after coming from off the pace and remains a progressive sort in these sprint handicaps. MAUN VRAT, a daughter of Montjeu, produced yet another consistent run, this time at Wolverhampton, finishing third in a decent staying maiden and she should get her day soon.
