Hong Kong Vase 2014

Thu 27 November 2014

Following a fantastic run in the Melbourne Cup Red Cadeaux has made the journey to Hong Kong and is now safely in the quarantine centre at Sha Tin Racecourse where he will begin the next leg of his journey.  He is the oldest horse entered in the race and would be the joint oldest horse to ever win the race, alongside Collier Hill who won in 2006.  Red Cadeaux is one of only six International Group 1 winners in the field of 13.

The Vase is contested over 2400m (about 1.5 miles) and for 2014 the prize money has been increased to HK$16,500,000 (US$2,128,600).

Ed knows what it takes to win the Hong Kong Vase having won twice previously with Ouija Board in 2005 and Red Cadeaux in 2012. With Red Cadeaux at the top of his game there is every chance that he will make history yet again.

Ed and Rebecca will head out to Hong Kong the week before the race to assist with the final preparations.

Robin and Steve have now been away from the yard for three months and I am sure they will be looking forward to returning home shortly after the race!
