Manjaam
A beautiful morning today although it was very cold earlier on. The horses are continuing to look well and it was fantastic to get a winner on the last day of March to make it six winners for the month. It was Ryan Moore's first ride back from Dubai and it was great to have him on board. He gave him a lovely ride. Dark Red frustrated us last season as we knew he had a lot of ability and he was unlucky at Beverley when second. I hope that he can go on from this now he has broken his maiden tag. Toffee Apple was disappointing in the 7 furlong handicap and Rock ‘n Red was unlucky in the concluding 10f 0-65 handicap. I was pleased that she got back on track and I hope she can win soon, her owner Mr Arculli bred her so it would be very nice if she can win.
We have four runners today, two at Lingfield and then two later on at Wolverhampton this evening. Capricious Cantor and Chestnut Storm run in the maiden at 5:30, Capricious shaped very nicely on her debut and I expect her to step forward from that today. The John Gosden trained favourite ran very well in a valuable sales race at Newmarket last October and the step up in trip should suit and the Alan King filly went well on her debut, so it is a decent fillies’ maiden. Chestnut Storm steps up to ten furlongs and I hope she can show us she has some ability. Nordenfelt has been gelded since his debut effort and I hope that he can show us more than he did on his debut in the Wolverhampton maiden at 745. Manjaam runs in the following handicap and I hope he will improve for the step up in trip. He would look to take all the beating.
We are using new state of the art racing plates later on today made from the groundbreaking new product graphene. Lighter and stronger than the current aluminium plates the Rilap Loof ® shoes are proven to give up to an extra 5% in performance in trials. Whilst on holiday in Uzbekistan our farrier found that the shoes were used in endurance races over there and having modified them for use on thoroughbreds they are now ready to be used in the horseracing arena.
Finally I must mention the cricket, the West Indies played very well to beat a strong India side on their home turf yesterday. England will have to be at their very best to beat them on Sunday but it should be a fantastic game.
