Global Wealth

It is groundhog day here at HQ as we have had yet more clouds overhead. We had 3mm of rain yesterday and so the going at the July course will just be on the easy side of good. There is rain forecast during racing and so conditions may ease for the later races depending on what time it arrives.

Alemaratalyoum fared best of our runners yesterday when finishing a close up third at Sandown. We hoped we may get away with 7f given the uphill climb to the line but he needs to step up in trip now. Warrior Prince hated the very soft ground up at Doncaster and The Lacemaker did not appreciate the very holding conditions at Newbury. Zamadance missed the break slightly and was not ideally placed in the early stages of his race. He had to be dropped in and then had to come wide and the race did not go to plan.

We run four horses today at three different meetings. Global Art makes his debut in the 6f Maiden at Ascot and although none of the horses have run it is likely to be a strong Maiden. Charlie Appleby has had a very good season with his juveniles and Mythical Magic is likely to know his job today. Given the stable record with their first time two year olds and his breeding it is no surprise he is favourite. Strategist has a lovely middle distance pedigree, Merlin Magic is by Camelot and so it will be interesting to see how he gets on but he is one who will likely improve with racing. Global Art has shown us ability at home but he will improve for the run and I am just hoping to see him run with credit. He appeared to handle the ground well with a little ease earlier in the week but I would not want the ground to be too soft.

Mulzim runs up at Thirsk and I would not want to see rain there this afternoon. The ground is meant to be just on the easy side of good which I think will be ok but genuinely soft ground would be a concern for him. He is lightly raced and there should still be more to come from him. He has progressed with his racing and is a lovely stamp of a horse who possesses plenty of scope. He was unlucky last time as he was in front just before and after the line when beaten by the narrowest of margins. It’s a competitive race with Pecheurs De Perles on the improve, Groupie won last time and on her old form she is still well handicapped.  Ventura Secret falls into the same bracket and he turned things around when winning recently. We are well drawn in stall six and I hope our horse can run a good race but he will have to continue on an upward curve in a tricky race.

We run two horses at HQ this evening in the 5:35 and the 7:10 and both have small each way chances. Oud Metha Bridge is a horse with ability who we have gelded to try and help him concentrate his mind. He has been disappointing recently after showing ability on the all-weather and he showed signs of temperament on his last start. The ground should be ideal for him tonight and he seems to be in good form at home, so I am hopeful he can be competitive off of a mark which looks workable.

Global Wealth is another horse who has been gelded and if he can replicate his debut run here at HQ then he has each way claims. He ran on nicely that day from the rear of the field and whilst he has not stepped forward from that run there have been excuses. He was too keen up at Beverley and the winner Ventura Knight is now rated 93, so in hindsight it was no disgrace to be well beaten by him. Chelmsford did not really work out and the surface may not have been to his liking, so we are hopeful his mark may be fair. Joe’s Spirit ran well in a competitive Nursery last time whilst Di Fede could be well handicapped on her second run and can be forgiven her Royal Ascot run very easily. Her Kempton win has worked out well.
