Mudalell
It is a lovely morning here in Newmarket and the skies are blue and the sun is shining brightly. The ground was quite beautiful on the Limekilns this morning with the early dew meaning there was moisture in the ground. The times at Newmarket yesterday did not suggest the ground was that much faster than good but it will dry out today as there is a slight breeze to accompany the bright sunshine.
Almizhar was our only runner at Newmarket yesterday and he was slow out of the stalls once more and never got competitive. Oceanus ran his race up at Pontefract in the one mile maiden but he ran into a smart filly who improved markedly on her debut run.
We have two runners in the 7f Maidens at Newmarket this afternoon. Ode To Paris is a son of Poet’s Voice who shaped pleasingly over 6f on his debut at Kempton. This is likely to be a decent Maiden but I expect him to improve for the run and for the step up in trip. Mudalell is a fine looking son of Invincible Spirit who makes his racecourse debut this afternoon. He is a nice horse but as with nearly all of mine he will learn a lot from his first day at school and there are two horses with experience who have shown a good level of form.
