It has been raining here in Newmarket and it is very grey and miserable. It appears that Ascot has been having similar weather and the ground there is now soft all over.
Alternative Fact ran very well yesterday in the Prix Isonomy at Deauville. He stuck to his guns to finish second and once he has strengthened up I hope he will turn into a lovely middle distance prospect next year. The winner Wootton looks a very talented horse and the manner in which he won suggests he could well take a hand in a race like the French Guineas next year. Mr Gent came to have every chance at Brighton and just didn’t see his race out late on, eventually finishing third.
We run Hazarfan today up at Redcar. He got a little lost on his debut at Newmarket and ran very green but he stayed on a little late in the race and the run was not devoid of promise. I would expect him to run better today with that experience under his belt but the favourite Stephensons Rocket ran to a good level on debut and shaped as if there was more to come. He will be very hard to beat but I hope our horse can run well and if the favourite does not meet expectations he should go close.
