An overcast morning here at HQ. It was an enjoyable day’s racing here yesterday and there were some smart performances on what appeared to be quite dead ground.

Fabulous Red ran well when fourth in the fillies’ Maiden. The winner knew her job and was impressive but our filly stuck to the task well, despite being a little keen for the first two furlongs. There are definitely races to be won with her. Arnarson was second up at Carlisle and he ran his race and was beaten by an improving type.

We run two horses today. Global Giant runs in the second division of the 7f Maiden here at the July Course which is run at 5:20. He ran well on debut at Newmarket and he will step forward from that run here. It looks a very warm race however and it is interesting that James Doyle is riding the unraced Falcon Eye rather than Tribal Quest who shaped with promise when second on debut. Bustam ran above expectations when sixth in the Chesham and the stalls are stand side today, so the two draw may prove to be beneficial. Ibraz catches the eye on pedigree and there are likely to be more promising newcomers on show too. It will be a race that should throw up plenty of future winners.

Carol runs tonight in the 8:25 at Chepstow. The ground has dried out there and so conditions will be very similar to when she won over course and distance just under three weeks ago. There are two non-runners which will make her task easier and she looks to have solid claims. She appears to be in excellent form at home and Silvestre De Sousa is in the saddle. Harmonise could be a danger if she bounces back to form but the drying ground will not be to her advantage and this looks an excellent opportunity for our filly to strike again.
