Fingers crossed for Newbury on Saturday

Fri 15 April 2011

VOODOO PRINCE, the first foal of the great Ouija Board, makes his long-awaited debut in the mile maiden at Newbury on Saturday, and, with SHARNBERRY, TANFEETH and SATWA MOON accompanying him in the horsebox, we are in for an interesting afternoon on the Berkshire course.

Summing up our hopes, Ed said:"Voodoo Prince had a few niggles last season which meant he could not run, but he has strengthened up through the winter and has a great temperament. He is still a baby and whatever he achieves here I would like to think that he will improve, and, though there has been a lot of hype and talk about the Dante and the Derby, let us see how he shapes on his debut before getting too carried away."

"We run Tanfeeth in the first leg of the mile maiden. He is a nice Singspiel horse who had the one run at Sandown last year and was always going to make a better three-year-old."

"Sharnberry flies the flag for us in the Fred Darling Stakes. She ran some nice races in good company last year but she repeatedly came up against soft ground and we always felt that she would be more effective on a better surface, so it will be interesting to see how she shapes in what looks an open trial."

"Our afternoon kicks off with Satwa Moon in the 10-furlong handicap. He is a decent horse who was placed four times in competitive handicaps last season, so, hopefully, he won't be far away again."
