SIR MAXIMILIAN gained a facile victory at Doncaster on Saturday having been knocking on the door on his previous runs. The Royal Applause colt was supplying La Grange with a second win of the week for owner Sir Robert Ogden, with AMAZONAS having made a winning debut at Yarmouth on Tuesday. William Buick gave the three year old a confident ride in behind, making steady headway at halfway before picking up the lead inside the final furlong to score by six lengths. It was an impressive win for the colt and he should be capable of building on this.
