Ed is philisophical about 'Cup' draw

Sat 29 October 2011

RED CADEAUX has drawn stall 16 for Tuesday's Melbourne Cup at Flemington and speaking from Australia, Ed was philosphical about his post-position, declaring "it's not bad but it's not good either."

He added: "What's done is done and we have to take what we have got but Red Cadeaux appears in good form, as does our jockey, Michael Rudd, who has just ridden two winners at the Carnival on Derby Day."

"We arrived Down Under to find that they have had lots of rain, which is good news for Red Cadeaux but the weather is much better today day and the ground does dry up quickly. However, they are talking about the rain returning, so all we can do is hope for the best and obviously the more juice in the ground the stronger his chance."

"Red Cadeaux has put all the weight back on that he lost on the journey over, plus a bit more, and he seems to have acclimatised well. He ran a great race in the Irish St Leger, where we rode him to get placed and had we been more positive with our tactics we might well have finished second, so if he can reproduce his form from The Curragh he must have a squeak."

Ed will go straight from Australia to Japan, where SNOW FAIRY tries to defend her crown in the QE11 Commemorative there on November 13.
