Burwaaz stakes his Ascot claim

Mon 30 May 2011

BURWAAZ, arguably our most precocious two-year-old, confirmed the promise he showed on his Nottingham debut when running out a convincing winner of the five furlong maiden at Leicester on Monday.

Richard Hills had the odds-on favourite in front after the first two furlongs, and when he shook the reins at Burwaaz in the final 300 metres the race was as good as over, and he won easily.

Ed said:"We were pleased with Burwaaz at Nottingham, but we dropped him back a furlong to find out if he had the speed for the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot, and he certainly did his cause no harm. I will talk to Angus Gold (Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum's racing manager) before finalising plans, but he could well be a toppers 'n tails job."
