The Ed Dunlop Racing Club was blessed to have a prosperous season in its inaugural year in 2023 with both Citizen General and Society Lion providing many successful days on the racecourse. 2024, thankfully, has started no differently for the Club with Citizen General backing up a good second place on the All-Weather at Kempton on the 6th Jan with a very decisive win back at Kempton on Saturday.
Ridden by Rab Havlin, Citizen General relaxed over the 2-mile trip and was pulled out 2 furlongs from home with a run that very quickly put the race to bed in impressive fashion. This was a valuable Class 2 handicap that saw the 5 yo gelded son of Camelot winning off a career high mark suggesting he is still maturing and improving.
He is a great prospect for the club going forward and certain to keep giving many enjoyable and fruitful days on the racecourse as we head into the 2024 turf season. Congratulations once again to all members of the Ed Dunlop Racing Club and connections including groom Steve Nicholson.
