ALMUFTARRIS finally consented to getting his head in front again when taking the mile and a quarter apprentice handicap at Nottingham on Wednesday. This was a first success for the three year old since he won an above average maiden at Lingfield last April but has disappointed somewhat in handicaps until now. Ridden patiently in rear by stable apprentice Ashley Morgan, the son of Smart Strike made smooth headway to chase the leaders two furlongs out and stayed on strongly to score by one and three quarter lengths. Morgan was recording his first win for his boss aboard the gelding and also his first for owner Hamdan Al Maktoum.
